Individual Psychotherapy

For Teens and Adults

Individual psychotherapy offers a unique opportunity to explore issues, challenges, and concerns that are impacting your life in a safe, supportive, non-judgmental, and confidential environment in a one-on-one therapeutic relationship with a professional therapist. Individual psychotherapy usually begins with a client coming into therapy with an issue or several issues that they wish to address.

As a therapist I work with my clients to help them develop greater understanding and insight into their personal and relational challenges. We often work to break patterns from the past that might be increasing stress in the present. Our work together in individual psychotherapy strives for personal growth.

The following is a list of areas in which I have had extensive training and experience as a therapist and professor of psychotherapy:

  • Anxiety
  • Depression
  • Obsessive Compulsive Disorder (OCD)
  • Chronic Illness (i.e. Autoimmune Disorders, Fibromyalgia, Cancer, Parkinson’s)
  • Bipolar Disorder
  • Anger Management
  • Sex Addiction (Pornography Compulsion, Out of Control Sexual Behaviors)
  • Attention Deficit Disorder (ADHD)
  • Trauma
  • Life Decisions/Stressors
  • Relationship concerns
  • Career Dilemmas/Work Stress
  • Grief and Loss

Different issues require different solutions.

In providing individual therapy I integrate aspects of different treatment approaches based on the client’s needs, situations, and desires. This may include Psychodynamic Therapy, Psychoeducation, Cognitive Behavioral Therapy (CBT), and/or Family Systems Approaches in which family members may be invited to join us for one or several sessions.
