Sex Therapy

Focused Solutions on Sexual Issues

In our society sexual issues are among the most difficult topics for people to discuss. Helping people deal with sex related concerns requires a caring and supportive atmosphere with a professional that is well informed and trained in the area of sex therapy. As a sex therapist I feel that sex and sexuality are natural components of life that should be filled with joy and satisfaction both as individuals as well as in our partnerships.

Typically sex therapy is solution focused which means people present with a specific problem or problems that we will identify and then work to resolve.

Some examples of issues that might be addressed in sex therapy are:

  • Decreased sexual desire or low sex drive
  • Partner Relationship Issues (i.e. different sexual appetites, conflicts about sex in the relationship, performance issues, sexual compatibility)
  • Infidelity / Affairs
  • Pain during sex (Dyspareunia)
  • Vaginal Spasms (Vaginismus)
  • Vulvodynia (Chronic Vulvar Pain)
  • Infertility
  • Sexual Abuse, Trauma, Rape
  • Trouble achieving orgasm (Anorgasmia)
  • Sexual Satisfaction
  • Erectile Dysfunction (ED)
  • Premature Ejaculation (PE)
  • Sex Addiction
  • Internet / Pornography Addiction
  • Emotional issues related to sex
  • Sexual Identity / Orientation Issues
  • Coming out as Gay, Lesbian, or Bisexual
  • Gender issues
  • Sexual Health
  • Aging and Sex

Sex Therapy: How does it work?

Sex therapy is a specialized model of psychotherapy (talk therapy) that focuses on sexual issues. Sex therapy can be an individual treatment approach or might involve therapy as a couple. It is up to you and I to decide what might best meet your needs. Sex therapy is open to either single or partnered people.
